You don’t need silk paper to take this course. It’s a more advanced surface that can elevate your chinoiserie paintings, but watercolour paper works beautifully too. If you already have watercolour paper, you’re all set.

To follow along exactly you’ll need a few specific materials, including gouache paint and Chinese-style brushes, which have softer bristles and a different shape than standard watercolour brushes. These help you get the right flow and brushstroke quality for chinoiserie painting.

That said, you don’t need anything fancy, Chinese brushes can be found affordably online, or you’re welcome to use my recommended ones.
